Rating System
Generals require level-headed assessments of the troops, material, and maneuvers available to them. History drinkers require similarly objective evaluations of available drink options. Each drink on this site, therefore, carries three ratings to help in the determination of strengths and weaknesses. The rating system is 1-5, with five being the highest level possible. While there is no substitute for field experience, readers in a pinch can use these ratings as a field guide in their drinking decision-making.
Strength: amount of alcohol.
What does the situation require? Is it a tactical strike against a well-fortified sobriety, or a calm, summer evening patrol to the porch swing? The well-prepared history drinker knows the ‘oomph’ in his arsenal.
Skill: degree of difficulty in preparation.
When a diplomat is taken hostage, you don’t send in a line cook for the extraction. When you want a drink and don’t have time for crushing mint sprigs, look to this rating. Any drunkard with thumbs can pour a shot. Want a twelve-ingredient cocktail? Pick up the red phone and make the call, history drinker.
Rank: taste.
Liquid Courage does not bestow its highest rankings lightly. Look to a drink’s rank to see what respect it should be given for services rendered to history drinkers worldwide.
